The Dance Academy of Reykjavík is a private school which emphasizes on individual training.  Each student can develop his/her talent from the beginning under the professional guidance at the school.  The traditional and classical components of dance are the main emphasis in student training, along with introducing other types of dance and new developments in dance.  Positive encouragement and edification of students in small groups is a big part of the school's activity.   

The Dance Academy of Reykjavík is approved by the Icelandic Ministry of Education. The school follows the Ministry's curriculum, which provides students with the chance of learning ballet as a part of their continuous education. 

Education in modern dance

The Dance Academy of Reykjavík offers a programs in classical and contemporary dance.  The programs run over three years, being divided into six fourteen week semesters.  The program is first and foremost intended for those students who have their mind set on further studies in dance and even professional dancing.  Students who are admitted to the school must have completed compulsory education and have practiced some kind of dance or have an unmistakable gift in dance in the opinion of the school's faculty.  To be able to graduate, students must have completed the course according to the school's curriculum.  The course curriculum, as well as other topics, includes: dance technique in classical and contemporary dance; dance history; choreography and stage technique.  The program is developed in close relation with teachers from Laban School of Dancing in London.  Students who graduate from the program can except to be admitted to further studies at Laban School of Dancing or other adequate schools at this level.

 Kamila Jezierska  - dance/movement teaacher, actress, dancer, performer, choreographer, born on 29th November 1983 in Toruń.
From 2007 living on Iceland, enjoing my time while danceing, teaching, perofrming. I learn constantly, taking part in courses, workshops, seminars, projects, improvisations, happenings and shows of various dancing, theatrical, martial arts and film techniques, both home and abroad.

River Carmalt  Since graduating from LABAN, River has performed with companies including Punchdrunk (Faust, Masque of the Red Death), Bare Bones (The 5 Man Show, BB3, Bare Bones 4 Children), Angela Woodhouse, Attik Dance (Tangled, Big Bang), Stacked Wonky, Ersatz Dance, Angela Praed, and Transitions Dance Company.

In addition to working as a freelance dance artist and teacher, 
River continues to pursue his own choreographic interest. He recently danced for Malmo Opera in Pariserliv and in Ben Wright’s semi final Place Prize entry 'This Moment is your Life’. He has taught internationally; Japan, France, Sweden, Israel, Iceland, and the UK and Ireland
